My I-539 extension has been pending for 8 months with no movement. Yesterday the status changed to 'Case is Being Actively Reviewed.' My current status expires in 6 weeks. Does this status change actually mean a decision is close? At what point should I be worried about falling out of status, and is premium processing possible this late?

I've had my green card for 4 years and want to apply for citizenship as soon as I'm eligible. In that time I took two long trips: 4 months to care for my father, and another 2 months for work. Do these trips break my 'continuous residence'? Do I have to start the 5-year clock over, and how do I count it exactly?

I'm on STEM OPT working as a data engineer, but my second H-1B lottery attempt failed. My OPT (with extension) runs out in about 70 days. My employer wants to keep me. What are the realistic options — day-1 CPT, O-1, moving abroad for L-1, marriage is not on the table. What do people in my situation actually do?

I filed my I-485 four months ago (employment-based, EB-2). My grandmother is very sick and I need to travel to India, possibly for 3 weeks. I applied for advance parole but it hasn't been approved yet. If I leave now, what happens to my green card application? Is there any emergency option?

My wife (US citizen) petitioned for my green card last year. We just received an RFE asking for more proof that our marriage is real — joint bank statements, lease, photos. We have most of this but we kept our finances mostly separate the first year. Is that a problem? How much evidence is enough, and should we get a lawyer just for the RFE response?

I've been on an H-1B with my current employer for 3 years. A new company filed a transfer petition for me 2 weeks ago and I have the receipt notice. My new manager wants me to start Monday, but my current employer says I can't leave until the transfer is approved. Who is right? I don't want to do anything that puts my status at risk.
