Connect your AI assistant

LawLyft speaks MCP (Model Context Protocol), so Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI assistants can work with your practice data — securely, scoped to your account only, and with strict permission tiers that keep money, deletions, and client communication out of AI hands.

What you can ask

Connect from Claude, ChatGPT, or any cloud AI

In your AI app, open Connectors (or Integrations) and choose Add custom connector.
Enter this server URL exactly (the “www” matters):

Click Connect— you'll be sent to LawLyft to sign in (if needed) and approve the connection. You choose read-only or read + safe edits.

Connect from a desktop client

Desktop apps can use a personal access token instead: in LawLyft go to Settings → AI Connector → Generate token, then add LawLyft to your client's MCP configuration with the URL above and your token as the bearer/access token.

Permissions: what the AI can and can't do

Read (always available)

list_cases / get_case — Browse cases, stages, tasks, and history
list_clients — Clients you have matters with
list_deadlines — Upcoming, overdue, and open deadlines
get_immigration_case — USCIS status, timeline, and priority dates
check_visa_bulletin — Live State Dept. visa bulletin lookups
list_invoices — Invoice status and outstanding balances
get_calendar — Your schedule for any window

Safe writes (only with a write-enabled connection)

add_case_note — Append a timestamped note to a case
create_deadline — Add a deadline or task
update_immigration_status — Record a USCIS status change
draft_document — Render a draft from your templates (never sent)

All reversible and non-financial. Drafted documents are never sent or signed.

Never possible via AI

Moving or refunding money (including trust/IOLTA funds), deleting anything, sending messages or invoices to clients, signing documents, and changing access or permissions. These actions are not exposed to AI at all — they always require you, in the app.

Security

Every connection is scoped to one lawyer account — the AI can only see your own data.
Connections use OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, or revocable personal access tokens (stored hashed).
Every AI action is rate-limited and recorded in an audit log.
Revoke any connection instantly in Settings → AI Connector.
